ABOUT PSDF
People’s social development foundation (PSDF) is a Civil society organisation it is purely non-government, non-profit and non-religious organization, working with/For empowerment of women, children and Dalit community as a holistic perspective;
It was started by a self-motivated group of intellectuals in Pondicherry in the year 1996, with the eager of voluntarism and women and Dalit ideology and spirit. The PSDF registered under society’s registration act 1860, in the year 1999.
Our strategies
PSDF believes that women is equal men and all the people have a right to a justice and equal opportunity in our society. We are committed to making that right reality for the people on the margins of Indian societies.
We work in common cause with people who are poor and have been denied their rights to understand, to challenge and change their conditions and positions in the society. We do this by clubbing-together the practical work with awareness.
Our Achievements
- 170 SHG groups were started in our working areas and activate the micro-credit plan, to released 10,000 women form the catches of moneylenders
- PSDF gave socio-awareness training for 5000 women and 150 SHG leaders.
- PSDF providing self-employment training to women and motivated to stand on their own legs.
- Free tailoring training was conducted more than 1500 women in rural area of Pondicherry.
- PSDF providing free food and quality pre-school education to children 1to 5 years in our crèche under child development programme in 10 villages. More than 250 children were benefited every year.
- Every year, 130 students were motivated to higher education in our night tuition centre in 5 areas under non-formal education programme.
- To getting the political power, PSDF motivate the women community to participate in the Local body election.
- PSDF given counselling to women to release from the family problems and domestic violence through family counselling centre. Every year more than 500 women were benefited.
- Every year, to motivate the women education, PSDF issue gifts and scholarship to girl children of SHG members who get highest rank in the public examination.
- At the time of Tsunami disaster in 2004, PSDF has rendered the infrastructure facilities like 130 temporary shelter, 5 Public water hand pumps and 3 temporary community toilets in the Tsunami affected coastal area of Chinnakalapet, Nallavadu with the help of other NGO’s.
- PSDF get loan from Bank and RMK institution, for their members and distribute loan to SHG women for encourage the self-employment.
- In 2 dalit village, PSDF introduced Domestic animal goat farming and women are motivated them as an owner of an asset.
- PSDF motivated the women SHG members and forming a co-operative milk society at Agaram Village.
- PSDF has trained more than 500 urban slum women in Bathick, paper mesh doll, and tailoring With Government stipend DIC of pondicherry.
